Octopus
Octopus is the craziest character in the series …. Basically he’s just a bit loopy! In the first 52 episodes he only appears in 2 episodes (I think) in “Bat and Ball” and in “Juggling Balls”. At first he had more tentacles but it was a real problem for us to animate them in terms of workload. Logically, the more characters that appear in a sequence the more complicated it is to animate, because each one of them is animated separately, therefore you can imagine how difficult it is if they’ve got 8 legs as well!! Guillermo has worked a lot with this character to give it a real personality – crazy but incredibly tuned in, it is the “Harpo Marx” of our series, who, instead of being dumb, speaks but it’s impossible to understand him… to the point that Guillermo has really bonded with the character. Even the voice that you can hear in the episodes is actually his! Here is a sample for you to enjoy.

In "Juggling Balls", Octopus reminded me of Mr Myagi in "The Karate Kid" because he was like a Japanese sensei! :D I seem to recall he even had a headband, yes? :)
Guillermo must be a strange fellow to work with, if he sounds like Octopus and looks like Sleepy Bird! ROTFL! Poor Guillermo! hehehe!
It's nice that the personalities of the characters reflect something of their creators. I think that's a brave and wonderful thing! :)
David, I love logging into this blog and finding new stuff to read! It's the highlight of my day! :D

I want to apologize for not coming here in 2 weeks. I've been extremely busy with my law lectures.
I also noticed that there is an Arabic Pocoyo link on www.pocoyo.com ! I am SO SO happy to see that!

Hi David, thanks for spending time putting together this interesting cartoon series and the blot. My 3-year old son is a great fan of Pocoyo and was particularly excited when he saw cracy Pato and Octopus! He was even trying to speak like Octopus! Wish you every success in this show!

Well my collection has started... my gf posted up the 3 in 1 Vehicle Set and I bought the DVD from Woolworths at the weekend.
I sent a tongue-in-cheek email to the director of programming at ITV and demanded that those terrible nighttime tv quiz shows be replace with wall-to-wall episodes of pocoyo!
And on that subject - there was an old TV test card that I would like Pocoyo to recreate :-)
( A Tv Test card was broadcast during the hours that there was no scheduled programming )

I like the octopus very much! I hope to get his voice in my handphone message tone. It would be the craziest in the office! Would there be any screen savers of him in the near future? Would love a plush of him as well :) Don't get to see much merchandise of Pocoyo in Singapore. Thanks!

Hello there,
I have no interest in Pocoyo at all, however my 18 year old brother does.
He came up to my room and as my computer was on asked me to search "Pocoyo" on google.
I knew the show of course, but I had never seen him so excited about a childrens TV show.
I found the offical Pocoyo site, and he noticed that the Octopus was not on there as he had seen the show for the first time today with the episode being "Juggling Balls".
I found this site, and I am posting this comment to tell you of my brothers love of Pocoyo!
Many regards
Victoria
