One of the characters who didn´t make it to the series was this clown. “Payaso” or “Clown” (we never gave him a name) was going to be a secondary character. He had a very serious disposition, with his long arms and legs and his huge hands and exaggerated expressions. He carried a suitcase full of the most incredible things!
Granada and CITV rejected him from the start saying that he was too adult a character. We fought against this (as always! :-D), and we even went to the point of doing more infantile designs, getting rid of the skinny legs and resolving other problems. To be honest now, when I look at him, his appearance doesn´t really fit well with the other characters in the series, so I think we made the right decision … “Clown” does have his funny points though, have you seen his inflatable black and white rubber ring and his tie?! … You never know, they might become fashionable one day!

Hmm...I think you're right when you say his appearance doesn't fit well with the other characters - I think he'd need to be a bit more cuddly?

the way he has ben made dosent fit with the other characers he is too much of a misfit for the characters own good as you posibly have noticed he is too reflective to fit it with the others (more soft) aperance hees just too SOLID.

I don't see it as a fit.... but for some reason.. you have to remember that clowns are scary to many and in fact make some have nightmares!

He seems too, well, pointy, sharp and thin. He is still charming in his way however, but it was proabaly best you didn't include him.
Also like comments before me, I am extremely frightened of clowns they are awful things! I'm secretly quite glad this creature of nightmare was left on the editing room floor.

I guess this character should be in the show. Because there are a lot of children who are afraid of clown (and the fear continue to adulthood)
